Today was a day of accomplishments. I was able to get several loads of laundry done, the dishes mostly done, and 2 afghan squares done. And to fill the time, I watched bad horror movies on the Sci-fi channel. Well, I started out watching the Ohio St. vs. Ohio game, but at half time I got bored. That boredom led to a string of bad movies. And of course they were so bad that I had to pause it while I was swapping out laundry loads. I have watched one about zombie miner children looking for revenge, one about a ship that was a rip off of a more successful movie for transporting the dead to the after life, one about a town somewhere near Romania that turn one of the their female offspring into a host for a ghoul, and now I am watching one about a Halloween prank in an abandoned, haunted tuberculosis hospital in Kentucky. Anyone want to take a guess at the real name of that hospital? Let’s just say that I have wanted to do a ghost hunt there for the past couple of years.
Now, for the knitting progress. If you check out the side bar, there are the two squares that I finished today. I have started another, it’s a lacy square, so it shouldn’t take too long to do. If I keep up this rate, I’ll have both afghans done before too long. And from the looks of it, I bought more than I needed in yarn. Plenty of left overs for smaller gifts.
This morning I finished The Other Boleyn Girl by Phillips Gregory. I love the book, but I can’t say the same for the movie. I had this book on my “to read” list for a while, but when I found out they were making it into a movie, I put it off. See, I’m the type of person that likes to see the movie first, that way the book doesn’t ruin it for me, and I can enjoy them both. Let me just say that what they did in the movie ruined the movie for me. Don’t get me wrong. I enjoyed the setting, the costumes, especially the costumes, and the cast. What I didn’t enjoy was the timing of it all, the few inaccuracies. I don’t claim to be an expert on Tudor history, but I have studied it just out of pure interest. If you like Tudor history, you’ll enjoy the book. And since I finished that one, I have started Brief Gaudy Hour by Margaret Campbell Barnes. Let’s see how this one fairs.
Happy Knitting!
